Does email marketing still work?

Does email marketing still work?

You might wonder what the benefits of sending newsletters and other types of email marketing are, now that there is a myriad of other ways to get your clients’ attention.  The fact is, with new apps and more useful software to make it easier, evidence shows that email marketing is here to stay…

If you think that the humble email is dead. Think about this; we are STILL collectively sending more than 74 trillion emails every year? The numbers are rising and not dropping, too. There were 1.8 million more emails sent in 2017 than there were in 2016, according to the Communicator Email Benchmark Report 2017.

In 2018, the numbers will be even higher and the number of email users around the world is expected to top 3.8 billion by the end of 2018. That’s a LOT of missed opportunity if you’re not using your emails to market effectively.

We’re all still checking emails.

91% of US customers use their email every day, and most people would say it’s the first ting the do! There is no sign of this changing anytime soon. Most people trust email more than they do social media and apps – they are more likely to buy from and email click through and have been using email for business a lot longer than social media.

Email marketing keeps you on clients’ radar.

Facebook (and other social media of course) is fickle. It’s great for chatting to clients on your page but you can’t always guarantee that your messages will be delivered to the people you most need to see them. Because everyone checks email, any email you send your mailing list will at the very least appear in their inbox. It’s then up to you to make them want to read it, of course. You’re always giving people a chance to find out more about you simply by opening that email.

It’s a little effort for a big potential return

Sending email marketing and newsletters is quick and automated. It’s easy to set up to work in your favour and done properly can mean a lot less effort creates better results. A good quality email list literally gives you the power to generate more revenue with the click of a button. According to Campaign Monitor, an email is six times more likely to get your clients to click through than a Tweet.

Email marketing lets you target your clients better

One of the best things about email marketing is that you can be precise about where you want to send your message. Email marketing apps and software are very clever and can tell you who is most likely to open different types of marketing emails, giving you the option to target them with specific offers you know they are more likely to open than other people on your list.

A little effort later and you’ve segmented your mailing list different groups which you can tailor offers and information to specifically. According to eMarketer, three times as many people purchase because of an email than through social media channels.

So, there you have it – the statistics and the logistics all show that beauty and well-being businesses benefit from getting to grips with email marketing. Don’t give up the trusty email for shiny objects like social media. Stick with it and reap the rewards of a really great mailing list.
